Common name: Showstopper Phlox, Garden Phlox, Summer Phlox
Height: Approximately 40–60 cm
Width: Approximately 40–60 cm
Foliage: Fresh, dense lance-shaped green leaves arranged along a compact, neatly branched mounding structure.
Plant Use: Ideal for cottage gardens, perennial borders, mass displays, and decorative patio pots. It is highly valued as a long-lasting cut flower and serves as an exceptional pollinator attractor.
Light: Best in full sun to part shade. (In hot regions, providing shelter from the harsh afternoon sun will protect the blooms).
Soil: High performing in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil (loam or compost-amended soil is ideal).
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced slow-release fertiliser or organic compost when new growth emerges in spring, and lightly top up as they begin to flower in summer.
Watering: Requires regular watering, especially during extended hot or dry periods. It is highly recommended to water the ground directly rather than wetting the foliage to keep the leaves healthy.
Notes:
Abundant Blooms:Produces massive, rounded clusters of soft pink flowers with deeper pink highlights towards the centres from spring through autumn.
Winter Dormancy: This is an herbaceous perennial, meaning it will naturally die back or go dormant in cold winter climates before returning with fresh, vibrant growth every spring.
Maintenance & Wildlife: Very low maintenance. Simply deadhead spent flower heads during the warmer months to encourage a tidy habit and extended blooming. It is non-toxic to pets and exceptionally popular with bees and butterflies.
